Lady:
Gin, Triple Sec, Lemon Juice - Created by Harry MacElhone at the
Ciro Club in London in 1919. The original concoction used Crème
de Menthe instead of gin.
Mint
Julep:
Bourbon, Mint Leaves, Sugar - The unique peppermint bouquet of this
drink has its roots in Kentucky, the traditional home of bourbon.
Collins:
Gin, Lemon Juice, Gomme Syrup, Soda - Invented at the Limmer's Hotel,
in the late 19th century, by a London bartender of the same name.
French
75:
Gin, Cointreau, Lemon Juice, Champagne - Created by Harry MacElhone
in 1925 and named after the French army's 75 field gun, used in
the Great War.
Singapore
Gin Sling:
Gin, Cherry Brandy, Lemon & Orange Juice, Grenadine, Soda -
In the early 20th century Somerset Maugham, Ernest Hemingway and
Noel Coward all partook of this delightful creation during their
stays in the Raffles Hotel in Singapore.
