| Private
Party, North London, 60 guests, 5th November 2005 |
Jo originally approached us wanting
us “to supply a couple of bartenders to make
a few cocktails”. After realizing that what with
organizing the food, fireworks, music and room layout,
on top of sending out the invites, she’d have
enough on her plate, she asked if we could organize
the whole of the drinks side of the night.
Our guys arrived at 5pm and spent 3
hours transforming her kitchen into a cool, funky bar,
empty glasses waiting to be filled with a selection
of arrival cocktails for the 8pm start. As it was November
5th Jo wanted a real cracker of a party to go with
her fireworks display. The boys obliged with flaming
Manhattans and ice-cool Mojitos, along with funky Margaritas
for her cosmopolitan crowd. For those that didn’t
want to stand at the bar, we offered tray service to
the dance and chill out rooms, taking specific orders
for all manner of drinks.
The party was such a success that the
bartenders who were booked until midnight ended up
staying until 2am (“I’m never going to
be 40 again”) and Jo’s comments in an email
to us a couple of days later endorsed the fact that
the party was a real hit with all her friends and she’ll
always “Remember, remember the 5th of November”…
“I think the party was a huge
success! It seems my friends do like cocktails
after all! The final number was 56 so we were
spot on with numbers. We really did need the 4th bar
person.
So thanks again for making my 40th
the night it was. I think one of your guys said
it felt like a Soho bar, not a home, and a friend of
ours felt like he was in a bar as he dropped his straw
on the floor and was going to leave it there (as you
would in a bar) before he remembered where he was! And
that is exactly what I wanted – to change the
house into another venue, so my spec was fulfilled
big time.
In the meantime, take care and keep
shaking those cocktails!
All the best, Jo”

| Charity
Dinner, Carlton Tower Hotel, Knightsbridge, 250 guests,
7th November 2005 |
Action
on Addiction asked us to supply “a real
Wow factor to the start of the evening”,
to provide something in addition to the champagne
their guests are offered at every event they
attend. One of the charity’s members
provided the spirits and we gave the hotel’s
beverage manager a list of the glasses and
other ingredients we needed to make some real
eye-catching, sumptuous cocktails.
The bar and staff arrived at 4pm and
by 7.30pm guests were arriving and either headed for
the bar to test our bartenders or availed themselves
of our waiters and waitresses offering tray service
and advising guests on the cocktails on offer. Drinks
flowed freely throughout the evening and the beautiful
cocktails, in both taste and appearance, gave the attendees
something to do while they pondered their charity auction
bids.
The hotel management and the charity
were both delighted with how our own staff got on with
their job with the minimum of fuss, in the setting
up and deconstruction of the whole cocktail bar area,
leaving them free to do their own jobs and raising
money for a very worthwhile cause.

| Showhome
Opening, Surrey, 6th October 2005, 60 guests |
PR Agency
Aylesworth Fleming asked us to come up with
a cocktail menu to reflect the vivacity and
stunning looks of the new George Wimpey West
London’s avantgarde apartments. The language
used in the description of these brand new
21st century apartments had our bartenders
chomping at the bit – “cutting
edge”, “contemporary”, “individual” and “lifestyle”,
all words which aptly describe Cocktailmaker,
its staff and the service we offer.
 |
 |
|
Due to certain
factors, not least space and accessibility, we didn’t
bring in a bar unit, but set up on the desk of the
show home’s sales team. Once menus were displayed,
an array of drinks prepared for the first arrivals
and a selection of fruits and canapés made
available, the result was a kaleidoscope of colour
as guests walked in; sales staff and guests relaxed
and enjoyed a great drink together in wonderful surroundings.
Although a menu was designed especially for the occasion,
guests also ordered their own preferred mixes. For
those driving, a selection of sophisticated alcohol-free
cocktails were on offer. The bartender made everyone
feel welcome with drinks that were pleasing on both
the eye and the palate , with the result that everyone
enjoyed both the drinks and the evening as a whole.
